The Rockdale High Tigers outclassed the Thorndale High eleven last Friday at straight football, the score being 34 to 0. With the seconding of the whistle that put the ball in action it was clearly seen that the Tigers “had a down-hill pull,” and all through the game their superiority over the visitors was exhibited. Both teams were evenly matched in regard to weight, but the Tigers displayed much more football knowledge and driving power, and played a brand of football that made them look like an entirely different team than the one that took the small end of the score the preceding Friday. The Thorndale team put up a good fight and in the last half held the Tigers to one touchdown.
The Matinee Musical Club met with Mrs. T.S. Barkley Saturday afternoon, with a full attendance, all save one member being present. The reception suite was adorned with exquisite roses from the hostesses’ own garden, while an ideal autumnal day completed the combination for a successful meeting. The program featured the effect of music on childlife, the following members being given: Piano trio, “Tancredi,” Misses Hale and Porter, and Mrs. Wynette Marrs. The hostess, assisted by her mother, Mrs. F.A. Graves, served a delicious salad course with plate favors of sunburst roses.
The $125,000 bonds of road district No. 6 which includes the town of Thorndale, were sold to Sterne Bros., of Kansas City for par and accrued interest, less $1,650. One thousand dollars of this deficit was made up by citizens of Thorndale and $650 by the citizens of Cameron. This insures the completion of Ben Milam Highway.
A bill was passed at the last session of the legislature which gives women the right to say merely that she is “over twenty-one” when registering to vote. She will not be compelled to give her correct age unless she chooses to do so.

A local group is hoping that the Kay Theater on Main Street in downtown Rockdale can still be renovated and is moving toward getting a cost estimate of the project. Envisioned as a place for public and private performances, a group on Monday formed “The Kay Theater Foundation” and will begin to raise money and seek advice on construction requirements and cost estimates. “The name of this project is “the Land Grab” and our fund-raising goal is a little over $40,000,” Peggy Perry, group director, said.

Meeting in regular session Monday at City Hall, the council approved authorizing up to $21,600 in hotel-motel occupancy (HOT) funds for the Kay Theater as the volunteer group restoring that historic building told the council it’s on the verge of completing its 10-year quest. That sum is actually $4,500 more than the group requested Monday.
