Milam County 4-H offered a 4-H Day Camp on Friday at the Milam County Extension Office. The camp was called FriYAY Day Camp because it happens on Friday. As a bonus we also did a French fry bar for lunch that day.
Youth who were in kindergarten through second grade attended the morning session and learned many things such as science, water conservation, rocketry, arts and crafts, cooking and much more.
Milam County 4-H’ers who were fourth grade and up taught the 4-H members at the camp. These members were part of the FCH Coalition as well as County Council officers.
Those 4-H’ers who led included Macy McDaniel, Kenan and Karsyn Mingus, Mackenzie Holcombe, Coralina Montejano, Maddie Basonic, Adison Dach, Luke and James Holcombe, Jack Luckey, and Brady and Hampton Barton.
In the afternoon, 4-H members who were in third through 12th grade attended sessions. These 4-H members learned about emergency preparedness led by our DAR Agent, Daniel Hale; butterflies led by the Master Naturalists; MyPlate by our Healthy Ambassadors, Hannah Bakken and Jadyn Stokley; food challenge, edible aquifers by our Water Ambassador, Jack Luckey; Public Speaking led by Tessa Vaculin; and Photography led by Maddie Basonic and Luke Holcombe.
