It’s hard to believe, but we’ve already completed our first three weeks of school.
We’ve had a great start and our faculty, staff and students have the school year up and running smoothly.
We have classroom rules, practices and procedures established, which allows for a safe, efficient and structured learning environment.
Progress reports have been sent home with all of our students.
I encourage you to closely review your child’s progress reports with them, and, if necessary schedule a conference with your child’s teacher.
You can also closely monitor your child’s progress throughout the school year via txConnect, which is a secure online system that allows parents and guardians to review their student’s grades.
Our teachers keep student grades in an electronic grade book and are encouraged to post grades on a regular basis, thereby keeping all students classroom performance current and available for parents to review.
GRIDDERS—Our varsity boys football team will travel to Bremond this week.
While we’ve lost our first two games of the season, our team plays hard and competes well each time they take the field.
Last Friday we hosted our neighbors from Burton and unveiled our new bleachers and press box on the home side of the field.
It was a bit stressful as game time approached and the bleachers were not completed.
The contractor wound up work about 5 p.m. on the day of the game.
A special thanks to Wendy King, Eugene Urbanovsky and Pat Yakesch for helping to ensure we were ready to host the game.
SPIKERS—Wendy King’s Lady Eagles volleyball team is in the midst of district play.
District play has gone very well thus far. Some big matches are coming up on the horizon.
The Lady Eagles are talented and play hard, smart and together as a team.
If you get a chance, come out and watch a match. You will be impressed.
RUNNERS—Our cross-country runners are up and at it early in the mornings.
While most folks are still at home and in bed, they are out and running as they prepare for the district meet next month.
They’ve been to a couple of invitational meets and are performing well.
It’s great to be an Eagle.
