Milam theater group has holiday show

Milam Community Theater children’s troupe is presenting “Junie B. Jones Jingle Bells Batman Smells!”

The play will usher in the holiday spirit in classic Junie B. Jones, of the children’s book series, style.

Opening night is Friday with the curtain going up at 6 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday the shows begin at 2 p.m.

Doors open one hour prior to show start.

All performances are at the Williams Event Center in Cameron.

Tickets can be purchased at the door $8 for adults $8 and $5 for children. Cash or check only please.

Masks required to view the performances.

Christmas Roundup donation accepted

The Christmas Roundup donations can be dropped off at Rockdale Intermediate School, The Rockdale ISD Administration Building, Citizens Bank, or Rockdale Signs during normal business hours.

Due to COVID-19, boxes will not be delivered this year. All families are asked to make arrangements to pick up their boxes at the KC Hall in Rockdale. Pick up dates are scheduled for Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Hearing planned for water district

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 12 to get public comments on the proposed Desired Future Conditions for the area aquifers that were recently adopted by Groundwater Management Area 8 under 36.108, Texas Water Code.

The hearing is at the district’s office at 310 E. Ave. C in Milano.

RCS food pantry will be closed this week

This week’s scheduled pantry opening has been canceled. The pantry officials say they plan to be open Dec. 18 but will pass on information as the date gets closer. Officials are sorry for any inconveniences, but it is being done for health and safety.

Ag board is now taking applications for member

The chief appraiser is taking applications for a new member to fill a vacancy on the agricultural advisory board to act as an adviser to the chief appraiser on the valuation and use of agricultural land.

Applicants should be local producers who have a working knowledge of current land lease prices and shares, cattle prices, crop prices and expenses.

Applications are available on the district’s website at www.milamad.org and at the Milam Appraisal District office at 120 N. Houston in Cameron.
