On Monday night at the regular monthly meeting of the American Legion Carlyle Post 358, Midshipman Tatiana Olivares was unanimously voted in as their newest and youngest-ever member at age 19.
The post celebrated her achievements as their own. Olivares will use their gun range to prepare for her Plebe Summer at the United States Naval Academy. Members of the Carlyle Post supported and gave her a recommendation during her application to USNA.
Her mother, City Councilwoman Esmeralda Ruelas-Olivares said, “She’s excited about the perks of being a member of the post and she can’t get enough of all the war stories and the use of the gun range as she prepares for her marksmanship assessment.”
