He told me to tell you that
Ishared with you last week that I just got turned on to Amazon. I don’t know how they deliver to my house the next day but I think ignorance is bliss. This way I won’t have to testify in court one day.
The Blonde and I share an email address so I can be out somewhere, get an email, check it on my phone and find out that she has bought something, typically bags (please take note of the plural use of the word bag) of Peet’s coffee.
She likes to brag how easy it is to make a purchase from Amazon. She says, “It says, ‘Buy with one click’.” Jennifer is one of the smartest people I know but I don’t think she understands that “buying” and “paying” are not quite the same. When I try to explain it she just laughs. She is too pretty to get angry at so I just let it go. Hey, it’s only money, right?
My point is we make following Jesus much harder than it has to be. If it’s hard to be in a relationship with Christ we must be doing something wrong (Matthew 11:28-30). I guess I missed the Sunday School class where they explained God likes me and wants the best for me. I used to think God was out to get me and that I had to be good enough to earn His love.
We have an account with J. Crew. Every time you spend some money with them they give you points and when you have enough points they send a “reward” card. God’s not like that. What I’m saying is I’m not earning God’s love by doing good. God has already demonstrated His love for me through Jesus and the cross (Romans 5:8).
I’m a Bob Goff fan. His latest book was just released, Everybody Always (buy it today and you will be blessed). He writes about how life is less like a piano recital and more like great improvisational jazz. In other words notes don’t have to be perfect.
With jazz even if the notes are wrong, they are accepted and people keep tapping their feet. Stages, audiences and formal clothing change us and not for the better. Stages sometimes compel us to play to the wrong audience. Stages can also have us playing for the wrong reasons. We should play because we love to play. Does that make sense?
Why do we do what we do? God has saved me from something and He has saved me for something. God has something for me and God wants something from me. Win-win.
I can do all of these things because of His love and strength that is provided through Jesus (Philippians 4:13). If you know Jesus you can too.
He told me to tell you that.
