The City of Milano held its annual Fourth of July parade and free hot dog meal last week. Results of parade winners are as follows:

Best overall—“Our Soldier is Coming Home,” Lenz and Barnes families. This float was in honor of Chris Barnes, who serves in the U.S. Army and will be returning home from an overseas deployment later this month.

Milano Evening Lions Club served up the hot dog meal, which also included chips, soda and Moon Pies.

METHODIST VBS—Milano United Methodist Church will host Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon July 17-19. The event’s final program will be held at noon on July 19. All youth through fifth grade are invited to attend.

BLOOD DRIVE—The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive on Saturday, July 21, at Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s McLane Station. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Donor will receive a “Commit for Life” beach towel. VOLLEYBALL CAMP—The Lady Eagle volleyball camp will be held July 23-25 at Geneva Paceley Gym. Cost is $30 per girl and includes a T-shirt (sizes youth large to adult 2XL). Incoming fourth through sixth graders will have camp from 9-11 a.m. and seventh through ninth graders from 9 a.m. to noon. Please text Wendy King (512-663-6539) if more information is needed.

KRISTI’S KRUSADERS— The annual Kristi’s Krusaders MS Rally for a cure event will be held Sept. 8 at Nat’s in Milano. This one will be for Kristi (Bode). The event will include a motorcycle run, barbecue meal, live auction, a raffle, 50/50 drawing, T-shirt sales and live music from both Brooke Graham and Chris Kleiber.
