Programs are set at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library on consecutive Thursdays May 17 and 24, according to Librarian Melanie Todd.

Robert Lawhon will present an evening of music May 17 and author Sean Wall will host a book signing May 24.

Both will begin at 6 p.m.

LAWHON—Growing up in a talented musical family, Lawhon was always surrounded by a variety of music.

His mother loved playing her acoustic guitar. His dad sang and was a pro at playing the mandolin, banjo, guitar, and fiddle (just to name a few). His brother played bass, along with guitar, mandolin, fiddle and sang.

His sister also played the guitar. At one time or another, they were playing together.

Robert Lawhon spent a year playing live music, twice a week, on Duck Sheffield’s radio show along with special guests; Cowboy Weaver, Garland Westbrook, Jerry Neal, and many others.

In 2014, he released a new single, “Moon Over Texas, which can be heard on many radio stations around, downloaded off his website; robertlawhon.com and cdbaby.com.

WALL—Wall’s book The Cycle of Foraging highlighted learn about, and begin utilizing, wild foods. It notes when different parts of plants are at their height, and when specific species may be harvested.

It describes how species can be propagated, either at home or in the wild, to the benefit of the average gardener and the greater ecological community.

Wall grew up in Dallas, around White Rock Lake.

He attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and graduated in 2005.

He later attended the University of North Texas, majoring in biology. He transferred to Texas A&M in 2009 to study wildlife and fisheries sciences and environmental sciences.

He is a professional painter and sculptor and he has an active portfolio managed through his website, https://anaturalplace.wordpress.com/. He worked in the Brazos Valley with several non-profits providing environmental education opportunities and teaching.
