The RISD Board of Trustees, at their May 20 meeting, recognized the following student groups: RJH Band Solo and Ensemble, High School One Act Play, SkillsUSA and FFA State Level Accomplishments, RJH Tennis, RHS Tennis, RHS Track, Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State and the RHS Baseball Team.
The Oath of Office was administered to school trustee candidates Jason Barcak and Karen Kirk Laughlin, elected to Place 1 and Place 2.
The board elected Charles Miles as board President, Jason Barcak as Vice President and Amy Casas as Secretary.
Director of Maintenance, Cody Dudley, reviewed and discussed the maintenance report, summer projects, campus updates and athletic updates including lighting changes, restroom repairs and facility upgrades.
RISD Superintendent Dr. Denise Monzingo presented campus construction updates.
Elementary Principal Shannon Pourmanafzadeh, Interim Intermediate Principal Pam Kaufmann, Junior High Assistant Principal Hudson Evans, High School Support Cheryl Koury and Athletic Director Hunter Hamrick each highlighted their campus’s accomplishments from the 202324 school year, as well as their goals moving into the 2024-25 school year.
The board reviewed and approved the Memorandum of Understanding between Rockdale ISD and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department, and approved Southwest Foodservice Excellence, LLC as the Food Service Management Company for Rockdale ISD for the period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
