We’re going to have to wait at least another month to see sales tax receipts plummet because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
June sales taxes held mostly steady throughout the area, even though receipts were down over 11 percent statewide.
Those figures reflect taxes collected in April— for businesses who report monthly—and reported in May, according to Comptroller Glen Hegar.
And the big downturn in the economy steam began in April.
But sales tax figures for the year continue to show an increase for Rockdale, Milam County and the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD).
CITY—Rockdale’s June check is $69,188, a 17.83-percent increase from $58,700 one year ago.
That makes the year-to-date total $425,263, up 4.10 percent from $408,475 in for the same period in 2019.
Milam County’s June check was $89,688, 6.41-percent less than the $95,835 recorded a year ago.
But the county still comes out ahead 7.16 percent for the year, going from $693,844 to $743,565.
Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) is up for the month and year.
The MDD’s June check of $35,696 was up 19.51 percent from the June 2019 total of $29,867.
For the year the MDD is up 8.86 percent, going from $199,756 to $212,270.
Among Milam municipalities, the only negative numbers were Cameron (down for the year) and Buckholts (down for the month).
