A new flag pole at the Rockdale High School baseball field was donated by the 1962 state-finalist Rockdale American Legion baseball team. Five team members attended the dedication along with members of American Legion Carlyle Post 358 which sponsored that teenage team, managed by realtor M.R. “Jim” Currey and coached by Ernie Laurence and John Sonntag. From left, Legion post members Jack Brooks and Dick Boundy; team members Ernie Wayne Laurence, R.J. Nitsche, Jimmy Knight, Mike Currey and Bob Dymke; and Legion members Joe Twohig (post commander), Jim McKimmey, Homer Rutledge, Debora McKimmey, Larry Drabek and Frank Garcia. Perry & Perry Builders installed the pole and Rockdale Signs & Photography provided signage honoring the team.
