The Thursday Reading Club began the 2023-2024 year with a fall luncheon at the Lucy Hill Patterson Library sponsored by the yearbook committee, Barbara Nelson, Patricia McKee and Wendi Upson.
The year’s meetings are a tribute to a longtime member of the club, Carole Camp Simank, who died early this year. Members expressed their love and appreciation for Carole during the roll call. They also agreed to subscribe to the monthly Kind News magazine which inspires children to be curious and kind to people, animals and the world around them, for Rockdale elementary students, as a memorial to Mrs. Simank.
Special guests at the luncheon were librarian Melanie Todd and library aides Lisa Ferguson and Karen Bryant.
Yearbook members presented the annual yearbook with the new course of study, “Women’s Words and Wisdom,” and the program schedule for the year.
Club President, Geri Burnett presided over the business meeting and led the Club Collect in closing.
