Annual MARC Ride to be held Saturday

The 23rd annual MARC Ride will be held this Saturday, June 8 at The Ranch with registration starting at 9 a.m. The MARC Ride is the major source of income for the Milam Adult Resource Center (MARC) and the ride has raised over $400,000 for the center over the years.

Homecoming set for Sunday

Rockda le’s Cit y wide Homecoming will be held on Sunday, June 9 at the Patterson Civic Center beginning at 9 a.m. with coffee and visiting. Lunch is $20 and will be catered by A Touch of Elegance catering.

STRANGE CLOUD

Milam County has had some strange weather with storms and rain during the past couple of months. Robbie Stauffer Breithaupt caught this cloud formation Friday morning on South US 77 in Forest Grove.

GOODBYE, OLD FRIEND

This is all that’s left of Milam County’s oldest cottonwood tree as it was taken down last week due to its rotten core which caused it to become a liability for the city. The tree could easily have fallen onto the nearby house or into the park which is regularly visited by Rockdale citizens.

The home of Mark and Karen Muston, 217 Bowser Street, has been named Yard of the Month for June by Rockdale Earth Day.

Comprehensive Plan offers way for Rockdale to retain small-town charm

Not all small towns are created the same; each one is unique. Population, in and of itself, rarely has a bearing on a small town’s character. Let’s all agree for the moment that the embodiment of a small-town character is Mayberry from the Andy Griffith Show.

Rockdale Police Officers made one felony arrest during the past week: • Gustavo Moreno Pina, 40, Rockdale, was arrested by Ofc. Lentz on a warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Accidents Ofc.
