—Four homes in the new Cornerstone Subdivision have already been sold, which is remarkable since they just went on the market last week. According to Rockdale City Manager Barbara Holly, “We have 20 submitted building plans with five pending approval, and 14 approved building permits.

Boren resigns, city looks for new mayor

City of Rockdale Mayor Brett Boren tendered his resignation, the city council accepted it at Monday night’s meeting and will appoint a new mayor for his unexpired term until a new mayoral election is held in May of 2025.

WORKING AT THE CAR WASH

Rockdale Band Boosters and band students held a car wash on Saturday in the former Lee’s Landing parking lot and also sold pulled pork sandwiches and sweets. The hard-working group raised over $1,000 which will go to sending the students to band camp this summer.

Rockdale Earth Day’s first Garden Tour was held on Saturday with five gardens to enjoy. Above, the garden of David Melton and Rey Mata, 520 West Belton, was a popular stop.

90th Rockdale Homecoming set for June 9 at Patterson Center

The 90th annual Rockdale Homecoming will be held Sunday, June 9, at the Patterson Civic Center. Way back in 1933, Ira Perry, rancher and former Rockdale resident, gathered a group at the present-day fairgrounds for a picnic and those folks formed The Rockdale Homecoming Association.

Rockdale’s Comprehensive Plan ready for input from the public

The first component of Rockdale’s new 2050 Comprehensive Plan was crafting a new Community Vision Statement. This vision statement serves as a rallying point from which the city will measure decisions – whether or not something advances the Vision or not.

Olivares graduates from NAPS

Tatiana Olivares, a 2023 RHS graduate, graduated from the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) over the weekend and will enter the prestigious United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD for the next four years.

There’s a new shop in town at Street Ministries at 225 N. Main St. The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and sells a variety of Christian- themed merchandise.
