4-H teams place 4th, 5th in horse judging

O ur District 8 4-H Horse Judging Contest was held April 1 in College Station. We are very proud of our young teams. They won fourth and fifth place teams with Sloan Sanders placing ninth and Callie Morris placing 10th individually.

Ithink I’m going to skip Easter next year (not the resurrection part). I’m already not a fan of the “holidays.” Thanksgiving and Christmas tend to let me down and if I hear, “Jesus is the reason for the season” one more time I might sit down and cry.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month; event Thursday

            April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. On Thurs. April 13 at 10 a.m., the Children’s Advocacy Center of Central Texas, Milam County CPS Board and inaugural members of the CCASA of Milam County will host a countywide awareness event at the Milam County Courthouse in Cameron.

Reasons to be optimistic about Rockdale’s future

Recently, we read about how Rockdale/Milam County’s economy turned a corner after bottoming out in 2020 and slightly grew in 2021. We concluded that there is some optimism for sustained growth and prosperity in the community.
