The City of Rockdale announced that the city pool will be open through Sunday, Aug. 14.
After Aug. 14, the pool will be open on weekends only until Sept. 4.
In other city council news, the proposed gun range by Tony Ellis passed the first reading of the city ordinance 4 to 1 at Monday’s meeting. One council member was absent.
Passions were high both for and against this project and several people spoke for each side of the argument.
Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall (formerly known as the VFW Hall).
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the business meeting begins at 5:45 p.m.
Meals will be $15. The meal will be pork steak provided by Lee’s Landing.

The cast calls for adult men and five adult women and will be directed by Richard Stone.

OPENING SOON—The East Bell Taphouse, located in the former Buck Henry’s Garage building, is set to open soon according to a new sign on the side of the building. The taphouse plans to have craft beer from local breweries, wine, food and live music. They will be posting job positions soon.
