First Friday Coffee comes back Friday

The popular First Friday Coffee at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library is making a comeback on Friday, July 1. The coffee get-togethers have been on hold since March of 2020 due to the pandemic. The Library Board will be the sponsor of this Friday’s coffee which starts at 9 a.m.

All fireworks not banned

There are only two kinds of fireworks that have been banned in Milam County due to dry weather conditions. The two kinds are rockets on a stick and missiles with fins. All other types of fireworks are legal for use this Independence Day.

The Fourth Circuit Court ruled that the national motto may remain on the facade of a county government building in Lexington, North Carolina.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Farmers market, garage sale in Davilla Upcoming events at the Davilla Community Center are a farmers market and garage sale on Saturday July 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A potluck dinner and game night will be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6.

We have been exper ienc i ng record breaking heat this summer. There is a burn ban in effect and that means no fireworks that shoot up in the air. Our volunteer fire departments are staying busy trying to keep grass fires from consuming our county. I am so thankful for the VFD in Milano.
