MDD to sell 487 property

At Monday night’s Rockdale Municipal Development District board meeting, a decision was made to sell the 166-acre property on FM 487 which was bought several years ago as a site for an industrial park. An updated appraisal will be done and they will get bids for the sale of the property.

Author, businesswoman to again pen series

The Rockdale Reporter’s popular and well-received 43-year Black History Series did not die when revered author Susie Sansom-Piper died in October 2019. Tamara Powell, Piper’s granddaughter, has agreed to write a series for 2022.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ALL-REGION BAND—These students auditioned and earned positions in the ATSSB Middle School All-Region Band. The auditions took place at Smithville High School on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 and they participated in the clinic/concert on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 in Bastrop.

Major accident Tuesday sends three to hospital

Accidents Sargent Fain responded to a major accident on Tuesday at 437 San Gabriel. Unit No. 1 was driven by 17-year-old Colton Driver of Rockdale which hit a tree. Passengers were Jose Saldana, 17, and Skyler Weichert, 17. All three were extricated and flown by PCI to the hospital. Unit No.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • 427 San Gabriel along with AMR and PHI for a major two-vehicle accident on Tuesday. • North FM 908/CR 428 on Wednesday for a controlled burn that was not called in and out of control. • 1040 West Cameron Avenue on Saturday for a gas can on fire.
