MDD takes steps toward new director

Rockdale’s MDD board took a step closer to hiring an executive director Monday when it voted to set up interviews with three contenders for the position. The Municipal Development District board told interim director Uryan Nelson to set up the three interviews between June 7 and 11.

Rockdale High School names top two graduates for 2021

Rockdale High School Valedictorian Arianna Eastridge and Salutatorian Kaitlyn Rash both have firm plans on what they will be doing as their high school careers come to an end Friday. Eastridge, who is the daughter of Antoinette Martinez, is heading to the University of Texas in the fall.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

11-year-old dies in Sunday crash

DPS troopers are searching for a black sedan involved in a hit and run accident Sunday that claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl. The wreck happened at 3:22 p.m., according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.
