Three members of a Thorndale-area family died before dawn Sunday morning as fire roared through their rural home on FM 486. According to the Milam County Sheriff’s Department, the remains of Myrtle Cantwell, 82; Bill Cant-well Jr.

Rockdale has its first-ever dog park and a crowd of several dozen four-footed, and two footed, enthusiasts came out Saturday morning to see the new facility. And it’s only the first phase.

Rockdale Christian Services had a “banner year” in food distribution in 2019, according to Pam Warren, RCS Chair. Warren said RCS distributed just over 50 tons of food in the year just past.

Rockdale police made two arrests early Saturday morning after a local woman said her camper was being towed away. Gilbert Ray Lerma, 49, and Garrett Ethan Blake Bayne, both of Thrall, were charged with theft ($2,500 to $30,000).
