Uptick seen in RISD enrollment

First day of classes in the 2019-20 school year will be Thursday in the Rockdale ISD and administrators are looking for an enrollment increase of about a dozen over August, 2018. Thorndale ISD are the early birds, with classes beginning Wednesday (Aug. 15) while Milano’s first day is Wednesday, Aug.

Reporter continues under family leadership

Another Cooke has joined the staff at The Rockdale Reporter. Kyle Cooke was welcomed to the general manager position last week and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the newspaper.

County holds second eco-dev summit

CAMERON—Over 100 persons came to the Williams Civic Center in Cameron Tuesday for the second of four Milam County Economic Development Summits.

Eighteen sentenced in district court

Sentencing set Friday for murder defendant CAMERON—The second sentencing for a murder defendant in the Emily Hacker case is scheduled for Friday in 20th District Court. Edward Brannon Barry, 32, of Caldwell is one of four defendants charged with the murder of Hacker, 34, on Jan.

Traffic stop nets arrest

A 52-year-old Cameron woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana Thursday after a traffic stop, and vehicle search, in Rockdale. Karrie Lee Weatherford was released after posting $8,000 bond. ACCIDENTS—One accident was reported in the past week inside the city limits.

Missing person search called off

For just over a day law enforcement officers in Milam County and the Texas Panhandle thought a missing Lubbock-area man might have come to the Gause area and died. But the search for 79-year-old Celestino Rodriguez of Slayton was called off Thursday afternoon.
