Very cloudy this Monday morning. For all of you students and teachers on spring break, I hope that the weather clears quickly with lots of sunshine. There will be a track meet here on March 19. It will start as soon as classes finish. And then STAAR testing begins!

Milano One-Act Play advances to bi-district

Milano High School’s One-Act Play cast and crew competed at district contest on March 7 at Yoe High School Performing Arts Center in Cameron and were picked to advance from the contest. The company did scenes from “Flowers for Algernon.

The fundraiser will include a motorcycle ride, with trikes, cars and trucks welcomed also, with ride fees of $20 per rider or $25 with a passenger. Donations are being accepted for the meal, live and silent auctions, as well as the event as a whole. Contact Tammy Neal at tamitammy@yahoo.

First Presbyterian lists month’s activities The Lenten schedule at First Presbyterian Church has been announced as follows: • March 17—9:45 a.m., gather for coffee and fellowship prior to 10:30 worship service. • March 18 —Church host the monthly meeting of the Matinee Musical Club.

ROCKDALE CHRISTIAN SERVICES

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

Thomason named to world-class drum and bugle corps

Rockdale resident and percussionist Sophie Thomason has been named to the Boston Crusaders, one of the top drum-and-bugle corps in the world. Thomason, has been a percussionist since age 10.

Plant ID competitors win at Houston show

MILAM 4-H NEWS Milam County 4-H members competed at the Houston Livestock Show/Hackamore Plant ID Contest earlier this month. Results for Milam competitors: Seniors First-place team—Heath Hollas, Kaylee Jackson, Mason Lindig and Rebecca Kostroun.

A DAY AT THE DEPOT

—As part of the Texas Public School Week, some Rockdale Elementary School students toured Rockdale’s International & Great Northern Depot Museum. “The students’ generous donation toward the preservation of the depot is greatly appreciated,” Lori McVoy, Rockdale Historical Society president said.

Sleep time: It’s more than a big yawn

RISD REPORT Yawning as I am writing this introduction. Sometimes we as adults find it difficult to get enough sleep during the week or even on weekends. In my youth, I wanted to stay up until midnight and sleep until noon if allowed, but of course that never happened.
