Milam County Judge Steve Young says a group of entrepreneurs are working toward bringing a solar farm business to the Rockdale area.
Young said he has been talking with the group since last fall and that they have identified three possible sites for the proposed project.
—That’s what the closure of the Texas 36 railroad overpass in Milano turned out to be after it was struck by an oversized load Friday. The Texas Department of Transportation closed the intersection that afternoon to make repairs to the bridge, initially saying it might be closed most of the week.
The Rockdale City council unanimously passed the first of what are anticipated to be four water rate hikes, to cover an initial $10-million in expense, in a marathon council session/town hall Monday at the Patterson Center.

SHERIFF’S REPORT
A 35-year-old Louisiana man, identified as a suspect who fled on foot at the Cameron “long bridge” Monday evening, was captured Tuesday morning near Cameron First Baptist Church.
