Refreshing cold salads

We’ve all eaten traditional southern carrot salad with raisins and sometimes pineapple, but here is one with more savory flavors than sweet. I will eat it but it’s not my favorite salad. I’m not sure why it’s called Korean Carrot Salad because there are no non-Rockdale ingredients in it.

Appelt reunion set for June 1 in Hallettsville The Appe lt Fami ly Reunion will be held Sunday, June 1, at Appelt’s Hill Hall in Hallettsville. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with lunch at 12-noon. Stew, sausage, side dishes and drinks will be provided.

One felony arrest, one traffic accident during past week

Responded to: • Near the intersection of Us 79 and CR 335 for a two-vehicle accident with no injuries on May 14 at 3:15 p.m. • 886 FM 1712 for a structure fire along with Milano, Minerva and Cameron VFDs on May 14 at 7:46 p.m. • 578 East 3rd Street for a pasture fire on May 19 at 4:11 p.m.

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 70 degrees; 1.45 feet above pool. Black bass are slow. Crappie are good to 2 pounds on jigs fished over brush piles all over the lake. White bass are fair on slab spoons fished on points and roadbeds.
