Mr. Baird
A graveside service for Bobby Joe Baird, 84, was held Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Locklin Cemetery in San Gabriel with El t on R a y Barron officiating.
Mr. Baird was born April 13, 1938, in Taylor.
He spent his childhood on the family farm at San Gabriel. He attended San Gabriel School prior to attending Thorndale High School, where he graduated in 1956.
Shortly after graduating, Mr. Baird attended Durhams Business College in Austin studying accounting for the next two years.
From there, he joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1958-1960. He enjoyed his experiences and travels with the Navy and looked back on his service with pride.
Upon returning home, Mr. Baird settled in Austin and worked for the Defense Research Lab at The University of Texas until 1967.
At that time, he moved to Houston and worked in accounting positions for the oil and gas industry for a total of 26 years. He retired in 2003.
Mr. Baird was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Augustus Baird and Emma Texanna (Culp) Baird; two sisters, Ouida Celine Palmaro and Lucy Dee Shelton; a niece, Emma Catherine Cypert; and two nephews, Richard Lynn Baird and Kirk Wayne Baird.
Survivors are two brothers, Gene Kirk Baird of San Gabriel and John Wayne Baird of Cypress; also, a number of nieces and nephews.
