Cecelia Smith, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 18, 2021, at her home in Black Jack.
She was born in Hempstead on Oct. 29, 1939, to Theodore and Nancy Jozwiak. Born and raised on the family homestead, as the second of three daughters, Cecelia grew up with many cousins, aunts, and uncles where she enjoyed spending lots of time outdoors.

They resided in College Station until 1970 when they moved to Rockdale where Freddie accepted a job at Alcoa. After moving to Rockdale, they purchased land and moved out to Black Jack. After Freddie’s passing and her retirement from Brookshire Brothers, Cecelia began to travel around the United States and the world with her friends and family.
She loved spending time outdoors and sharing adventures with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This is when she was promoted to “Granny.”
There were thousands of hours spent on her back deck laughing, talking, playing games, drinking Keystone Light, watching beautiful country sunsets, and countless nights under her famous party lights. One of
Cecelia will be remembered for her kindness, laughter, and most importantly her infinite love for her family.
