Sharon Lee Caraway Cloud of Rockdale, TX, died in Katy on May 24, 2025, at the age of 84.
Services will be 1 p.m. Fr iday, May 30, at Phil lips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale wi th Pasto r Matt Higginbotham officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Sharon was born in Seattle, WA, on Oct. 15, 1940.
She graduated from Rockdale High School in 1959 and married James Douglas Cloud of Rockdale in 1959 and he preceded her in death in 2003.
Sharon earned her bachelor’s degree at University of Texas at Dallas and her master’s degree in history from Southern Methodist University.
Sharon taught high school education in Plano at Williams High School and Plano East Senior High School, retiring in 1997. She taught honors classes in history and economics. She enjoyed taking groups of students on overseas trips to Europe, enhancing their love for history.
She loved to read, spend time in Galveston with family and friends and pets, and explore museums.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Cloud; father Levy Caraway; brother Jesse Caraway; sisters Vivian Caraway, Terry Renollet; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Survivors include her children, James Cloud Jr. and wife Tami, Kimberly Cloud Kuykendall and husband Karl, and Robert Keith Cloud.
She is also survived by grandchildren Jayda Cloud Bledsoe, Samuel Cloud, Amanda Ly nn Bar r i c k , James Kuykendall, Elizabeth Kuykendall Hayes, and Whitney Kuykendall Huffaker; great-grandchildren Austin Bledsoe, Howland Cloud, Ryder Barrick, Rainey Barrick, Lilly Grace Barrick, Steele Hayes, Stetson Hayes, Parker, Patrick, and Porter Huffaker; and many other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Bledsoe, Chris Hayes, John Barrick, Samuel Cloud, James Kuykendall and David Taylor.
