Mary Lou Davis, 85, of Milano died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Winnie L. Nursing Home in Cameron. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Sandy Creek Cemetery near Milano, with Rev. Adam Straznicky of St. John’s United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation is set for 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Mrs. Davis was born July 2, 1932, in Marathon to Ira Otis and Alice Carline (Tankersly) Dragoo. She attended school in Aransas Pass. On Aug. 15, 1951, she married Johnnie W. Davis in McKinney. They had lived in the Milano area the past 34 years. Mrs. Davis was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. She worked as a certified nurses aide for 10 years and home health care for 13 years. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Davis on April 3, 2012; two sons, Daniel W. Evans in December 2012 and Luther W. Davis in December 1975; her parents; and a sister, Ruth A. Lorance. Survivors are four sons, James O. Evans and wife Paula of Beeville, Billy R. Davis of Milano, David A. Davis and wife Connie of Corpus Christi, Stanley M. Davis and wife Cheryl of Milano; a daughter, Johnnie Lou Davis of Milano; a brother, Ira W. “Bill” Dragoo; and a sister, Ellen Dragoo; also, 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
