She married the love of her life, Wade Hampton Fatheree Jr. on Aug. 5, 1951 in Augusta, Georgia.
Freda loved being “mom” to her eight children. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own children, as she selflessly cared for anyone who needed her. One of the best ways she showed her love was by cooking amazing meals for those around her. There was always room for one more at the table.
She loved her Astros. Many hours were spent at the ballpark watching her husband and sons play softball where she was the official scorekeeper. In addition, she enjoyed working her crossword puzzles and watching her birds.
Freda at tended many events that involved her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She recently attended the first birthday party of her first great-great-grandchild.
Freda nurtured not only the body with her wonderful meals but also the soul and spirit. As “Granny” to everyone, she met you with a hug upon your arrival and again as you left her home. She left quite a legacy of love in her eight kids, 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Freda was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, grandson Casey Fatheree, son-in-law Mike Littlejohn, grandson Travis Tinnin, brothers James, Billy, Donnie, Richard, Bert and Mike Rice, sisters Marbeth and Beverley.
