Bertrand Fields, 89, of Milano passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, surrounded by family in the comfor t of his home.

He was born on Ma r c h 2 , 1936, in Bryan and raised in Snook on Chance Plantation.

A man of many talents, Bert began his career as a car mechanic before pursuing aerospace Mr. Fields

certification at Spartan Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

While in Tulsa, he and his beloved wife, Grace, welcomed their first son.

Bert went on to enjoy a 40-year career in the airline industry, eventually becoming a licensed pilot and flying small aircraft.

In 2007, Bert and Grace settled in Milano on her family’s land, where he continued to enjoy his lifelong passions for cars, planes, motorcycles and ham radio. He spent countless weekends in the garage with his sons restoring classic vehicles and he made radio connections around the world.

Bert also loved the outdoors— hunting in Colorado and on his property in Milano—and cherished time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace Fields; sons Kevin, Kenny (Michelle) and Keith (Laura); also, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his four siblings, and by one dear grandchild.

Bert will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud “Pawpaw,” and friend to many. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the family he loved so deeply.

A memorial service will be held to honor Bert’s life on Friday, Oct. 17—viewing at 10 a.m., funeral service at 11 a.m.—at Phillips & Luckey in Rockdale. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
