Tom “Poor Boy” Fisher, 72, of Rockdale died Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Scott & White Hospital in College Station.

Services were held Sunday, March 11, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rock-dale with Rev. Roy Dillard and Wayne Fisher officiating. Burial was at Liberty Community Cemetery near Milano.

Mr. Fisher was born Nov. 5, 1945, to William Thomas and Dorothy (Odam) Fisher in Cameron.

He was raised in Cameron and the Hoyte community but lived most of his life in Rockdale.

He attended the Cameron school district through his junior year. His senior year was in Rock-dale, as a member of the Class of 1964.

He married Lois Yakesch on June 4, 1965, at Fair Park in Rockdale during Jubilee Days.

Mr. Fisher first worked at Miller Chevrolet in Rockdale in the parts department. He later owned Fisher Construction Co., then Poor Boy Welding and his last business was Poor Boy B-B-Que, all in Rockdale.

He also served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Mr. Fisher was a member of Liberty Community Church and former president of Liberty Community Cemetery.

He was a member of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as president, assistant chief, assistant Fire Marshall and was awarded Fireman of the Year.

Mr. Fisher was also a former member of Rockdale City Council, a director in the Rock-dale Chamber of Commerce, former member and board member of the Rockdale Country Club, member of the Rockdale Masonic Lodge No. 414, the Shriners and Ben Hur.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas on May 29, 1968, and his mother, Dorothy on Sept. 27, 1997.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Fisher; a son, Wayne Fisher; two daughters, Kathy Quinney, Wanda Schramm and husband Trey, all of Rockdale; a brother, John L. Fisher and wife Kay; two sisters, Bettie A. Doelitsch and husband Rick, Lynn Weaver and husband George, all of Rockdale; six grandchildren, Travis Fisher, Traci Fisher White and husband Luke, Kirk Quinney, Koy Quinney, Ethan Schramm and Garrett Schramm; two great-grandchildren, Brantley White and Kallie White; also a part of his family are, Bo Quinney, Rhonda Fisher and Kim Crump, all of Rockdale, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Pallbearers were Wayne Fisher, Travis Fisher, Bo Quinney, Trey Schramm, Kirk Quinney, Koy Quinney, Garrett Schramm and Ethan Schramm.

Honorary pallbearers were Luke White, Jeff Fisher, Kelly Fisher, Resston Weaver, Raely Weaver, Aaron Doelitsch, Nathan Doelitsch and Brantley White.
