Billy K. Galbreath, 95, of Rockdale died Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Richard Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 21, at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale with Rev. Adam Straznicky officiating. Burial was at Salty Cemetery near Thorndale.
Mr. Galbreath was born Nov. 10, 1922, in the Nile community of Milam County to Otto and Ollie (Clark) Galbreath.
He was a graduate of Thorn-dale High School and received his master’s degree in education from Texas A&M Class of ’44, where he was a member of the Corps and the Aggie Band.
Mr. Galbreath served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
On July 31, 1948, he married Lillian Ueckert in San Antonio at St. Henry’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Gablreath was an educator, working in Waco Connally I.S.D., Smiley I.S.D. and Manor I.S.D.
The Galbreath’s lived the past 30 years in Rockdale, where he worked for the City of Rockdale, volunteered with the Rockdale E.M.S. and served as manager in the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Gablreath was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale, Noon Lions Club and Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Otto Galbreath on Aug. 4, 2004; a sister, Lu Nan Ogea on May 10, 2012; and a brother-in-law, Leo Ogea on Aug. 30, 2016.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Galbreath of Rockdale; two sons, Billy Dale Galbreath and wife Robin of Rockdale, Gary James Galbreath and wife Brenda of New Braunfels; seven grandchildren, Carly and Eric Kraenzel, Kimberly and Danny Marquis, Kevin and Rachel Galbreath, Courtney and Bobby Poole, McKenna K. Galbreath, Kelsey Galbreath and Grant Galbreath; nine great-grandchildren, Madison and Colton Marquis, Connor, Logan and Bentley Kraenzel, Carson and Harper Galbreath, Tenley and Hailey Poole; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Galbreath of Round Rock.
Pallbearers were Billy Darrell Ogea, Lynn Ogea, Brian Galbreath, Hal Seewald, Phil Asher and Jim Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were Lydia Vareal, Hal Reagan, Clifford Bartlett, Emory Crump, Linda Zander, Brenda Baker, Debbie Weiderhold, Susan Seewald and Donna Asher.
