Margie “Mimi” Louise Gilchrist, 90, of San Gabriel died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock.

Services were held Monday, Nov. 21, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Internment was at Locklin Cemetery in San Gabriel.

Ms. Gilchrist was born Jan. 28, 1932, in Taylor to Reinhold and Clara (Leschber) Zieschang.

She graduated from Thorndale High School in 1950.

Margie had a beauty shop attached to her house, where she was a beautician for many years. She also worked at Rodenbeck Auto in the sales department.

She will be remembered as an all-around great cook. She cooked at a restaurant and for St. Paul Lutheran School.

Ms. Gilchrist was preceded in death by her parents, Reinhold and Clara Zieschang; a granddaughter, Jessica Gilchrist; a great-great-grandson Kase Carter Jones; and two brothers, Howard Zieschang and wife Virginia and Gene Zieschang.

Surviving are four children, Kenneth Malcolm and wife Susan of Kingwood, Weldon Joe “Trey” III and wife Karen, Sandra Jo Cuba and Larry Gilbreath, James Allen and wife Michele, all of Thorndale; a sister, Janice Estill and husband Van of Marble Falls; and a sister- in-law, Lorene Zieschang of Waxahachie; also, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were her grandsons and nephews, Kenneth Gilchrist, Cody Cuba, Blake Cuba, Wade Gilchrist, Trent Chisholm and David Zieschang.

Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandsons.
