It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Miguel Her na ndez of Rockdale, wh o w e n t to be w i th our Heavenly Father on Oct. 13, 2025, at the age of 80.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Miguel was born on Oct. 29, 1944, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Epimenio Hernandez and Juana Espino.
He was known for his kindness, work ethic and sense of humor, and lived a life filled with family, service and love.
Miguel is survived by Taribia Hernandez, his beloved wife of 52 years.
He is also survived by his children, Steve Villanueva, Jesse Villanueva, Barbara Corpus, Becky Espinosa, Rudy Garza and Rosemary Duran; his siblings, Antonio Hernandez, Alicia Hernandez, Hilario Hernandez and Cruz Hernandez; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews Miguel was preceded in death by children Miguel Hernandez Jr., Armando Hernandez, Susana Villanueva and Ruthie Trevino; and siblings Epitacio Hernandez, Carmela Espino, Rodoifo Hernandez, Julia Hernandez, Alejandrina Hernandez and Jaime Hernandez.
He enjoyed homesteading, ranch life, entertaining guests and gardening, and found joy in spending time with his lovely wife.
Miguel Hernandez will be remembered most for a heart full of compassion and kindness, always willing to help others in need. His warmth and understanding touched everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
