Mrs. Jackson

JoAnn Jackson, 89 of Rockdale, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at Salty Cemetery near Thorn dale.

Visi t at ion will be from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sunday, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mrs. Jackson was born July 25, 1933, in Rockdale to Thomas Henderson and Antonio “Tonie” (Lorenz) Beavers.

She married Floyd S. Jackson in Rockdale in 1957.

She kept children at her home during the day and during the evening, and the children loved “JoJo.”

Mrs. Jackson also worked with children at St. John’s Day Care.

She attended The Master’s Gateway Church in Milano.

She enjoyed being outside, working in the garden and mowing her yard.

Mrs. Jackson had a milk cow named “Judy,” that help supply milk and butter to many of her customers.

She loved people and loved listening to KRXT, especially Charlie and Viva. She also loved her music, singing and dancing.

Mrs. Jackson was featured in The Rockdale Reporter as “Hero of the Month.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Tonie Beavers; her husband, Floyd on March 21, 1982; and two sisters, Virginia Davis and Juanita Brashear.

Survivors are her sons, Randy Jackson and Larry Joe Jackson, both of Rockdale; grandsons Cooper Joe Jackson and Clayton Lynn Jackson; her brother, John Beavers of Houston; and two sisters, Myrtle Richards of Sheppard and Janice Jannett of Dickerson.
