Jimmy D. Davis, 70, of Austin died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, in Austin.

A funeral ser vice was held Sunday, Feb. 26, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Jackie English officiating.

Mr. Davis Burial was at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mr. Davis was born Dec. 4, 1952, to Archie Perry and Bobbie Jane (Whiteley) Davis in Odessa.

He graduated from Odessa High School in 1973 and moved to Austin in 1974.

On June 12, 1982, he married Dorothy Wallis.

Mr. Davis worked at Travis Association for the Blind for 42 years.

He loved music of all kinds and could play the piano by ear.

He was a licensed HAM radio operator for 25 years and enjoyed having conversations with people all over the world.

Mr. Davis was a sports fanatic; he could tell you all the stats from all the teams. He loved watching baseball, football, basketball, soccer and hockey.

He also enjoyed studying and reading about space and UFOs; he could tell you about all the astronauts and missions.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Bobbie Davis.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Davis of Austin; a sister, Janice Forbes and husband Don of Plano; and brothers and sisters-in-law Bethany Wallis, Susan Cole and husband Kirk, Brian Wallis and wife Angie, Sharon McDaniel and husband Chuck, Charlotte Schnerr and husband Britt, Carol Montelongo and husband Freddy; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Kirk Cole, Brian Wallis, Britt Schnerr, Freddy Montelongo, Chuck McDaniel, Kyle Cooke and Braden Wallis.

Honorary pallbearers were Lee Parsley and Ken Cooke.
