Mr. Jones
Arvin John Jones was born Dec. 3, 1958, in Frankfurt Germany, to Reval Viola (RV) Jones and Charlotte Brossman Jones.
He passed from this life on April 10, 2025.
He graduated from Milano High School in 1977 after moving there from Livingston in 1972. While at Milano, his varsity basketball team made it to the regional tournament for the first time since 1951. He loved basketball. He also held the school record in the “mile” run which was only recently broken.
He was a union millwright by trade and worked in numerous capacities with Brown & Root, South Texas Nuclear Project and Commercial Contractors at the Alcoa plant in Rockdale for Frank Felton. He retired from Craftcorps at the Freescale plant in Austin as a foreman. He had many guys that he worked with that he thought highly of.
On Feb. 2, 1980, he married Charlotte Coldiron. They had two children, Jennifer and Eric, and spent many hours on the road with sports activities.
He loved to hunt, fish, take care of his cattle, bale hay, and grow his delicious tomatoes in his garden.
Arvin was a husband, father, hard worker and friend to many but, above all, his favorite role was being “Papa” to his four beloved grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event, cheering from the sidelines with pride and enthusiasm. He taught them how to fish, shared his knowledge of farming and ranching and was always there to lend a hand with livestock projects.
Arvin brought joy and laughter wherever he went, whether he was introducing his grandkids to everyone he met or taking them on special snack runs to CEFCO. Summers were marked by cherished family trips to the beach, memories made in the sun and sand that will last a lifetime. To call him a proud Papa would be an understatement. His love for his grandchildren was boundless and they were truly the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his dad, RV Jones, and father-inlaw Bobby Coldiron.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlotte Jones; his daughter, Jennifer Ivins and husband Terry; his son Eric Jones and wife Kelsey; his grandsons, Max Ivins, Brayden Ivins and Easton Jones; granddaughter Taylor Jones; his mother, Charlotte Anthis; his brothers, Dwayne Jones and wife Shellie, Stephen Jones and wife Kim; his sister, Rebecca Telg and husband Steve; his mother-in-law, JoAnne Coldiron; his brother-inlaw, Randy Coldiron and wife Missy; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends Pallbearers to honor Arvin will be Eric Jones, Dwayne Jones, Stephen Jones, Randy Coldiron, Truitt Jones and Chance Coldiron.
