Mrs. Lerma
Adelia Lerma passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025.
Adelia, affectionately known as Aunt D e e , was born on July 10, 1945. She was one of 12 children born to Feliciano and Manuela Zapata in Rockdale.
Dee was married to Edward Lerma Jr. They were happily married for 34 years, living in Schertz, for the majority of their marriage until Edward’s death in 2002.
Aunt Dee was beloved, adored and earned the title as the fun aunt. Though she didn’t have children of her own, every niece and nephew became hers. Summers with Aunt Dee and Uncle Edward were filled with laughter, junk food, late night movies, trips to Sea World, visits to the “golden arches” for burgers and surprise adventures sure to be filled with laughter and ever-lasting memories.
Our Aunt Dee continued to be the fun aunt even after we all grew up. She always knew how to make you feel special.
Dee was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale and Church of the Good Shepherd in Schertz. She was an active member in the Ladies Auxiliary at both churches.
Dee was a proud Godmother to several children for both family and friends alike.
Dee is survived by brother Steve Zapata and wife Mary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Dee wi l l be great ly missed by all that knew and loved her.
The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate and dignified support provided by Trinity Hospice.
A special thank you to Maria Elena and Kim for their gentle care of our Aunt Dee.
Pallbearers will be Mike Zapata, Eddie Zapata, Fred Silva, David Montelongo, Enrique Zapata and J.W. Smith.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Michael and Art Zapata.
