Lester Gene Brooks, 90, of Lake Whitney passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Ascension Prov idence Hospital in Waco. Bo r n o n March 16, 1935, in Rockd ale, Les ter was the beloved son of Wallace and Emma-Gene Brooks.
He graduated from Rockdale High School in 1953 and went on to attend the University of Arlington from 1954 to 1955.
In 1959, Lester proudly answered the call to serve his country, spending two years stationed in Germany as a member of the U.S. Army.
Following his military service, Lester pursued his passion for craftsmanship at Trinity Gunsmith College. He built a respected career in Fort Worth as a skilled gunsmith, specializing in custom-made hunting rifles. His work was known for its precision, artistry, and dedication to quality.
After retiring, Lester and his devoted wife of 68 years, Venita Brooks, embraced life on the road as full-time RV travelers. Together, they explored the beauty and diversity of the United States before settling near Lake Whitney, where they enjoyed the peace and community of the area.
Lester is survived by his loving wife, Venita Brooks; two sons, Kent and Dale Brooks; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
His legacy of craftsmanship, adventure, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
