CAMERON—Mae Ellen Eisfeldt Mays, 80, of Cameron, formerly of Schertz, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, in a Cameron nursing facility. Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mays was born in Cameron on Nov. 22, 1937 to John and Alice Eisfeldt. She married Arthur Mays on Aug. 16, 1958, at Battetown Baptist Church in Cameron. Mrs. Mays was a 1957 graduate of CH Yoe High School in Cameron. She graduated from Nixon-Clay Business School in Austin and worked for T.E.C. for a short time until she joined her husband in England. After three years in England, Mrs. Mays moved to Omaha, Nebraska and in 1964 she went to work for the U.S. Government, first as a secretary and retiring in 1994 as a G.S.-11, item manager at Kelly AFB in San Antonio. She was a graduate from Southwest Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in business and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Lutheran University in accounting. Mrs. Mays was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Johnnie and William; and a sister, Gloria Ann. Survivors are her husband, Arthur of Cameron; a daughter, Karen Brenek of Seabrook; a grandson, Travis Brenek of Seabrook; a granddaughter, Amanda Brenek of Galveston; three brothers, Robert (Doris) of Cameron, John (Judy) of Cameron, David (Merna) of Waco; two sisters, Evelyn Hilliard of Temple and Edna Eisfeldt of Bryan; a brother-in-law, Curtis Mays (Linda); and a sister-in-law, Gwen Brown (Charles); also, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
