A beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Stephanie “Steff” McBride left this world unexpectedly on March 31, 2025.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1055 Texas St., in Rockdale with Dr. Royal L. Johnson of f ic iat ing. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Steff was born in Rockdale on April 9, 1966, to Emmett James and Mattie Pearl McBride. Stephanie was the “baby” of the family and the youngest of 10 children.

She grew up with a smalltown humbleness and possessed a big heart.

Upon graduation from Rockdale High School, she embarked on her life’s journey. She was an active member in her community and church.

Stephanie thrived on the satisfaction of loving and caring for her family.

Stephanie was a lover of fashion, music and enjoyed dancing and making people laugh.

Her humor was outgoing and vivacious, but she was also strong and a fighter for what she believed was right. We will always remember her infectious smile, and caring personality.

Stephanie is survived by her children, EJ Shields and wife Dallas Shields, Eddrick Shields and spouse Melanie, Brittney Shields, Makayla Washington and spouse Jada; also, six grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers and a host of family and friends.

Her presence in our lives will be deeply missed.
