Carroll Lewis Modesette, 83, of Rockdale died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after battling cancer.
Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Modesette Services will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, with Pastor Bridget Prescher officiating. Graveside service will follow at Sharp Cemetery.
Carroll was born on Dec. 5, 1940, to Elbert Lewis and Mildred Maxine in Milam County.
After he graduated from Sharp High School in 1959, he attended Durham Business College in Austin.
Going into the workforce, he was employed by The City of Austin Electric (now known as Austin Energy), kick-starting a 35-year career as an electrician/ lineman.
Aside from his love of his family and friends, he was passionate about volunteering his time bettering the community that he so dearly loved.
Carroll was predeceased by his father, Elbert Lewis Modesette; his mother, Mildred Maxine Modesette; father-in-law Woodrow Dismukes; motherin- law Dorothy Dismukes and brother-in-law Milton “Wimp” Dismukes.
Survivors are his loving wife of 63 years, Mollie; children Danette Adams, husband David of Buckholts, Greg Modesette, wife Kelli of McDade; four grandchildren, Samantha Vallejo and husband Justin of Luling, Standy Buchholz and husband Garrett of Waxahachie, Tanner and Tristyn Modesette of McDade; and three great-grandchildren, Kooper Vallejo, Finlee and Sutton Buchholz.
