Sergio “Shorty” Mireles Mora was born in Mexico City to Rita and Jose Mireles. He was the second of nine kids.
He came to the U.S. when he was 17. He worked at brick laying for Jody Peel in Br y an and was a steel erector for Perry & Perry Builders for 14 years in Rockdale.
Growing up he played soccer and he enjoyed swimming.
He married Sheila on April 4, 1992, and raised three children.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids. He enjoyed being outside everyday and cleaning his yard as well as the neighbors yards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Jose; a brother, Ernesto; granddaughters Mila Rae and Devynn Julia Proctor; and two nephews, Mauricio Mireles and Brandon Rivera.
Survivors are his wife of 34 years, Sheila Mireles; daughter Heidi Proctor (Chauncey) of Rockdale; sons Nathan Proctor (Marsha) of Houston, Reginald Bailey of Houston, Philip Proctor (Haley) of College Station; grandkids Sean Salazar and Nataly Hernandez; brothers Raul Mireles, Adan Mireles, Victor Mireles, Juan Mireles, Arturo Mireles; sisters Chela Mireles and Lourdes Mireles.
He is also survived by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and cousins who loved him.
Serving pallbearers were Nataly Hernandez, Raul Mireles, Sean Salazar, Michael Abila, Nathan Proctor, Michael Abila Jr., Philip Proctor and Armando Mora.
