Kevin Mark Niemann, 56, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:37 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Kevin was born Nov. 2, 1961, in Trenton, MI, the son of Werner “Vern” F. and Lorraine (Kamin) Niemann. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School for grades K-8 and later graduated from Huron High School in 1979. He later earned a degree in architectural technology from Monroe Community College. Kevin married Sarah Martinez at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waltz, MI, on Nov. 11, 1989, and she survives. Kevin was a union journeyman electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local No. 34 and the Local 520 in Austin, for a total of 35 years. He was an avid Detroit Redwings, Lions and Tigers fan. He was a member of the Detroit rock band, Danger Zone. Kevin enjoyed being outdoors and relaxing with his refreshment. He enjoyed going to Tooties Bar and visiting with friends. His first priority was spending as much time as he could with his family, children and grandson. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Niemann; two children, Heidi Nicole Niemann and Alexander James “A.J.” (Sonia) Niemann; grandson, Christian James Niemann, all of Monmouth; his mother, Lorraine Niemann of Waltz, MI; two sisters, Debra Niemann of New Boston, MI, and Dianne Kaiser of Monroe, MI; a brother, Gilbert (Jean) Niemann of Rockdale; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Werner F. Niemann, a World War II veteran. A gathering of family and friends was held Saturday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded.
