Douglas Geraldine (Gerry) Offield, 94, of Rockdale, passed away peacefully on July 14 , 2025 , surrounded by her loving family. Bornin Rockdale on May 7, 1931, to Lida and A.A. Tuma, Gerr y lived a life fi lled with kindness, dedication, and a passion for community. Gerry graduated from Rockdale High School. She spent many years working for multiple companies as she lived in many cities and towns around America. She retired after many years working at the FHA as a supervisor of the Valley District, approving loans for the farmers. Gerry loved to travel and visited all 50 of the United States as well as Canada, Mexico, Europe and Great Britain. She was very active in Rockdale—elected to two terms on the City Council, serving on the Hospital Board, the Friends of the Library, and the Rockdale Historic Preservation Commission that restored the original train station and got it certifi ed as an historical site. Gerry was very active in the Democratic Party on a local, state, and national level. She was proud to be a delegate to the state and national conventions. She i s sur v ived by her son, George Thomas Fuquay and wife Chaille; and her granddaughter, Cecilia Christine Fuquay and her partner, Amanda Huss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Gilbert Offi eld; her parents and her siblings. A visitation will be held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 25. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Rockdale at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26. In lieu of f lowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Rockdale. Gerry’s legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
