Donna Kay Robinson, 73, of Rockdale passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, at her home in Rockdale with her family by her side.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 21, at First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Robinson Donna was born Sept. 13, 1951, to Harles Car l ton and Onita Pauline (Ray) Leonard in Pasadena.

When Donna was just 8, her father passed away; later she was adopted by her stepfather, Carl Carter.

She graduated from C.E. King High School before attending Sam Houston State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. During her time there she was a sprinter on the track team and met the love of her life, Randy.

On July 28, 1973, she married Randy Robinson at Peace Lutheran Church in Channelview.

She was a teacher for 30 years for Sheldon ISD, Thorndale ISD and Rockdale ISD, retiring in 2006. Donna loved teaching her students as much as they loved her and was even nominated for National Teacher of the Year.

She belonged to Meadow Baptist Church and was strong in her faith.

She was very creative and enjoyed doing crafts and science experiments with her children and grandchildren.

Donna was always smiling and never met a stranger.

She was an avid reader with an abundance of knowledge.

Donna loved spending quality time with family and friends. She rarely missed a sporting event, school function or anything for her grandchildren, no matter how much physical pain she was in. Donna also loved spending time with her sisters, taking trips full of mischief and laughter.

Lastly, she loved her Bunco Babes, who became lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Onita and Carl Carter, and Harles Leonard.

Donna is survived by her husband of 51 years, Randy Robinson; children Randa Ruiz and fiancé Daniel Pinkerton, Krista Robinson, Eric Robinson and wife Amber; grandchildren Karl-Patrick (Wendel), Jace (Robinson) and wife Hadley, Madelyn (Ruiz), Ella (Wendel), DJ (Pinkerton), Kyndal (Robinson), Ava (Ruiz), Emma (Pinkerton), Kennedy (Robinson), and Brynn (Robinson); great-granddaughter Masyn (Robinson); siblings Paula Camp, Bobby Carter, Carla Orth, Lisa Seymour, Carl Carter and Teresa Reid; as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
