Marie Smith graduated to guardian angel on April 12, 2025, in Rockdale at the age of 88.

Granny, as she was known to most, is survived by her granddaugh ter, Tanya and husband Darr ell Mynar of Rockdale; great-grandsons Derrick Mynar and wife Shelby of Celina, Dakota Mynar and wife Eilie of Whitman, Arizona, Mason Bailey and wife Samantha of Madisonville; great-great-grandchildren Beckett Mynar, Hazyl Mynar and Jaxon Bailey; and special friend Norma Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Smith; parents George and Gertrude Stidham; siblings Herbert Stidham, Hazel Davies, Jim Stidham and Kathy Jones; a daughter, Denise Brock; and a grandson, Gary Bailey.

Marie was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Cullman, Alabama, to George and Gertrude Stidham.

She worked in accounting, cosmetology and was also a housewife.

She was a dedicated great-grandmother who loved watching her great-grandchildren’s activities and sports.

She loved dogs and treated them like family.

The last two years, she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

A private celebration of life is scheduled in June in Cullman, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local dog shelter or visit your local nursing home in memory of her.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Rockdale Estates for their compassionate care of Granny. She will be missed by many but we know she is watching over us and we will see her again.
