Lou Ann Tower y, 89, of Thorndale, went to be with her Heavenly Father Friday, March 27, 2026.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow at Salty Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lou Ann Towery, a devoted mother, cherished nanny, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, March 27.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1936, in Thorndale to Henry and Lovie Lee (Locklin) Shavers.
She graduated from Thorndale High School and married her high school sweetheart Bohn Towery on Dec. 23, 1953.
She worked for a short time at Forbes Grocery and was kept very busy as a caretaker for many people during her life.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jackie Bohn Towery; her parents, Henry and Lovie Lee Shavers; sister Doris Campbell; and brother Bert Shavers.
Lou Ann was known to love a hot cup of coffee, a good cigarette or two, and a crossword puzzle.
While her grandchildren and older great-grandchildren were in school, she enjoyed watching them participate in all of their activities.
In her later years, she spent a lot of her time writing notes, watching Grit TV and shelling pecans she picked up in her front yard.
She is survived by her children, daughter Sue Ann Burlin and sons Michael Wayne Towery and wife Michelle, Jerry Don Towery, and Steven Mark Towery.
She is also survived by her brothers, Billy Wayne Shavers and friend Linda Grimm, Donald Lee Shavers and wife Martha.
Lou Ann was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, Toby Towery and wife Salina, Ross Towery and wife Lauren, Ryan Towery and wife Megan, Simon Ramirez, April Meddings and husband Josh, Sarah Towery, Sydnee Towery, Ricky Towery, Tanner Towery, Brandon Burlin and wife Larissa, Brittany Roberts and husband Justin.
He r legacy cont inues through her 24 great-grandchildren, Hunter Towery and wife Caylie, Colton Jack Towery, Rylee Van Houten and husband Dylan, Shaylee Towery, Witten Towery, Easton Towery, Bohn Towery, Blaine Towery, Bradie “Birdie” Towery, Sophia Reyes, Kyle Reyes, Lincoln Reyes, A.J. Oranday, Valente Reyes, Silas Towery, Colton Towery, Skyler Towery, Burlin Roberts, Tatum Burlin, Fallon Burlin, Briggs Burlin, Bex Burlin, Madison Whigham and Zaylie Matchett.
She was further blessed with three great-great-grandchildren, Walker, and his twin brothers, Sawyer and Lincoln Towery.
Lou Ann will be remembered for the joy she found in being a mother and nanny and her unwavering love for her family. Her home was a place where laughter was shared, memories were made, and love was abundant.
Serving as pallbearers are Toby Towery, Ross Towery, Ryan Towery, Brandon Burlin, Ricky Towery, Hunter Towery, Colton Towery, Larry Shavers and Gary Shavers.
