Rockdale High School tennis players Reyna Gonzalez and Devon Whitsel were recognized by the Capital Area Tennis Association with most valuable player awards at its annual banquet on Monday, May 6, in Austin. The duo won their second straight state championship on Friday, May 17.

Preusse and Herzog named THS male athletes of the year

Corey Preusse and Michael Herzog were named Thorndale High School athletes of the year at the school’s banquet held last Tuesday. Preusse was an all-district tight end and All-Centex deep snapper for the Bulldogs this past fall.

Tiger Field track closed for repairs The track at Tiger Stadium will not be available to the public from May 25 through June 4. Warranty repair work and resurfacing will take place due to excessive and heavy rain since construction.

Rockdale hopes to qualify for state in 7-on-7 tourney

Rockdale’s final chance to qualify for the Texas State 7-on-7 Championships will be Saturday in Brock. The team competed in the Gatesville qualifying tournament last Thursday and although they went 2-1, did not advance out of pool play.

Perry becomes third Tiger to sign with Centenary

Rockdale High School senior Jackson Perry signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport alongside his sister Elizabeth Perry and parents Lin and Diana Perry in the RHS Commons last Monday.
