Lady Tigers still in chase

The Lady Tiger basketball team got their sixth district loss in a 53-40 final to Lexington on Friday evening. “Honestly, we got off to the best start we’ve had all season,” said Meredith Caffey, Rockdale High School girl’s head basketball coach.

RHS golf squads eye return to state

A Rockdale Lady Tiger golf team that finished second in the state last year faces many challenges in 2019. First, the team lost its top golfer Lyndy Laurrell to graduation. Laurrell, who now plays at Stephen F. Austin, won the 3A golf championship title.

Tiger lifters grab wins at Lampasas meet

The Rockdale boy’s powerlifting team placed fourth out of 13 teams at the Lampasas Badger Powerlifting Invitational on Thursday. “This is the most impressive boy’s team finish I’ve had in my time at Rockdale,” said Jacob Campsey, RHS head powerlifting coach.

Rockdale defense holds Smithville to one goal

The Rockdale Tiger boys soccer team got their fourth win of the season on Friday, defeating Smithville 3-1 after a hot first half. “I think the kids did a really good job of pressing Smithville’s offense during the first half,” said Gilberto Rodriguez, Rockdale High School head soccer coach.

Tiger fans can take solace

EAGLE IN TIGER TOWN The Rockdale Tiger football team and fans can take comfort in knowing that their season ended to the 2018 UIL Texas 3A-DI state champions. RHS fell to the Grand-view Zebras 45-21 in November of last year in a game Rockdale was as close as three points in the final seven minutes.

The Rockdale Lady Tiger soccer team notched their first victory of the season during the Yoe 3A Invitational Tournament in Cameron this past weekend. “I think we got what we wanted out of the tournament.

RHS attack falls short

The Rockdale Tigers, now 0-5 in District 19-3A, came up short in their 48-38 loss to Franklin. “They did a good job fighting until the end,” said Sean Coleman, Rockdale High School boy’s head basketball coach. “But we need to start the game with that same aggressiveness and intensity.
